Conciergerie

The Conciergerie was made in the tenth century and was intended to be the main palace for the kings. The Great Hall of the building used to be the largest dining area in Europe and there was another one where the 2,000 workers of the palace ate. Some of the buildings of the palace were made into prison in the fourteenth century. In the Reign of Terror, the palace became a prison and a revolutionary tribunal.

Pantheon

This is the place where the famous French citizens are buried. The model of the building is inspired from the Pantheon in Rome, and was originally a church. King Louis XV rebuilt the building in neoclassical style. This was to thank God for his recovery from illness. Later during the French revolution, the building was changed to a mausoleum to honor the martyrs. Some of the famous people buried in the Pantheon include Victor Hugo, Voltaire, and Marie Curie.

Pere Lachaise Cemetery

This is the most visited cemetery in the world. The place became a municipal cemetery in 1804. It is the final resting place of many famous people like author Oscar Wilde, Jim Morrison, and Edith Piaf.
