There are some very special areas to visit, such as the Place de Vendôme square, and Rue de la Paix. These are historical gold mines, but have been maintained well enough to hold their impressionable quality. The Vendôme Square in particular is very interesting for history buffs, being the place where the Ministre de la Justice was set up. The square also has some of the most high-end jewelry stores in the city, like the Burma, for instance. You also have the Ritz Hotel, where famous designer Coco Chanel used to stay. For a short picnic, visit the Quai d’Orsay and enjoy a riverbank outing with family or friends.

A lot of your trip to Paris will and should be taken up by gastronomic pursuits, but that does not mean you cannot indulge before making your way over to a Louvre guided tour.
